NEW CHAIRMAN FOR ANCHOR TRUST

Aman Dalvi OBE has been named Anchor Trust’s new Chairman.

Aman joined the Board of Anchor Trust, which provides housing and care to older people across England, in December 2004. He will take up his post as Chairman from 25 September 2008.

He said: “It is a real privilege to be selected to serve as Chairman of Anchor Trust. The organisation has a proud tradition of driving up standards in the housing and care provided to older people and I am committed to ensuring that tradition continues.

“The sector has experienced significant change since the organisation started out 40 years ago. The higher expectations and care needs of the next generation of older people mean we must continuously evolve. In our anniversary year, I am delighted that the post gives me the opportunity to ensure that evolution continues.”

Chief Executive John Belcher CBE said: “This is an exciting time in the provision of services to older people. Aman is an exceptional individual whose vision and dedication will help us focus on providing the high-quality services older people themselves demand.”

Aman Dalvi is the Chief Executive of Gateway to London, which works to attract investment into the Thames Gateway London area. The Thames Gateway is the largest regeneration project in Europe and home to the 2012 Olympics. He was Chief Executive of Ujima Housing Association from 1993 to 2002 and, previously, Assistant Director of Investment at the Housing Corporation.

Dianne Jeffrey will stand down from the Board in September after spending the last five years as Chairman.

She said: “There have been many achievements over the last few years, not least our award-winning Denham Garden Village retirement development and our specialist dementia care homes in Coventry. I am proud to have had the opportunity to improve the lives of older people as a Board member and then as Chairman and I wish Aman well in his new post.”
